12 short weeks into an MRes (because it's the only way I could find to look at the nature of creative disruption in any sort of understood academic way) and having begun to see the nature of the space we have created in terms of a deeply neoliberal educational machine, with metrics of success based on the deeply self-referential bizarreness of numbers of citations, numbers of publications, or numbers of international students (spot the theme), I am beginning to finding treasure. You have to dig, but not so deep. People deep within extraordinarily established and establishment institutions (and I have a lot to say about institutions, but not right now) are fighting for space, for air, for change. I have met some already - some quietly, some more overtly fighting to change, improve and even reconfigure this boggling beast of an imperative to grow and get and grow. I found this this morning: sorta made me make muffled exclamations of delight in the "Quiet Study Zone" of the university library ... and she's *here*! Of all universities ... joy flares in my veins. :)
